First Project of 2012: Bluestone Patio Renovation

Atlanta bluestone patio is at least 40 years old. The mortar joints had failed and much of the stone became loose. After doing some investigation, we determined that the original concrete slab was intact, and the bluestone usable. The solution is to remove the existing bluestone, wash dirt and loose material off the stone and existing slab, and remortar the stone. We will recycle the existing stone, which has quite a bit of "character", and save our clients the cost of buying new stone.
The original patio had too much sag in the middle, which we are correcting by laying the stone level to a string line. Also, the original work had too many straight lines in the joint work. Mike will take care to mix up the pattern to eliminate long "seams".

A Place to Relax with Family and Friends Patio and outdoor cooking station are added to existing covered porch in this intown home. Computer 3-D design by Marta Garland enables homeowners to see the project before it is built. All hardscape is done by Mike Garland, Greenland Landscape & Masonry. We used the same brick as in the house for this project, making project blend in with the existing home. Countertops are made of beautiful custom cut lilac bluestone.

We designed and built this memorial garden for burial of cremated remains. Garden faces east, and vesper light is dramatic in late winter.
